About Esthetic Acupuncture
What is esthetic acupuncture?
The roots of esthetic acupuncture lie in acupuncture and moxibustion, traditional Eastern therapies used since ancient times. Acupuncture and moxibustion stimulate the body to bring out the body's powers of self-healing, with the objective of health promotion and therapeutic support aimed at various illnesses. They have been recognized by organizations including the WHO (World Health Organization) as medically effective for treating a variety of conditions, such as gynecological disorders, internal organ disorders, autonomous nervous system disorders, and nervous disorders.
Esthetic acupuncture and moxibustion are founded on acupuncture and moxibustion that have been worked into a modern style and applied to health and beauty. The treatments regulate hormonal balance, the workings of the autonomous nervous system, and the functioning of internal organs, to improve skin quality from inside the body.
What age groups tend to undergo esthetic acupuncture?
Our salons' customers cover a wide age range, from those in their 20s to those in their 70s.
For how long should procedures be undergone, and how frequently, to see improvement?
As a guideline, we recommend 3 to 5 sessions, once every 4 to 7 days, to quickly improve the condition of the skin, followed by 1 maintenance session every 3 to 4 weeks.
The optimal pace can vary with individual differences in details of the areas that customers want to improve, the severity of symptoms, and customers’ physical constitution. Accordingly, we engage in counseling with customers, and propose esthetic acupuncture and moxibustion programs tailored to customers' needs.
Can men also undergo esthetic acupuncture?
All of our Salons' courses are available to men. As all Salons use private rooms, both men and women can undergo procedures with peace of mind.
About the effectiveness of esthetic acupuncture
What are the effects of esthetic acupuncture and moxibustion?
Esthetic acupuncture and moxibustion are effective for both health and beauty. HARICCHI aims to enhance people's essential and natural beauty through three approaches: care of local areas of concern, improvement while regulating the body overall, and treatment of symptoms and disorders.
- Treatments improve facial complexion, making skin healthy and transparent by promoting blood flow and enhancing metabolism.
- Boosting the flow of lymph also promotes the elimination of wastes.
- Treatments regulate hormonal balance, the workings of the autonomous nervous system, and the functioning of internal organs, to improve skin quality from inside the body and make it finely smooth and moisture-rich.
Are the effects of esthetic acupuncture and moxibustion lasting?
The duration of effects varies according to customers' physical constitution, condition of face and body, and severity of symptoms.
By continuing with regular procedures, esthetic effects such as lifting and alleviation of sagging and wrinkles in the face, and alleviation of disorders such as stiff shoulders, back pain, and chills, are sustained longer, physical constitution and skin quality improve, and skin will return to a firmer condition.
Is acupuncture treatment effective against stress and symptoms of menopause?
The effectiveness of acupuncture and moxibustion in treating stress and symptoms of menopause have been recognized by the WHO (World Health Organization). Acupuncture not only has the effect of boosting immune capabilities but also acts to normalize a variety of disorders. It regulates autonomous nervous system disorders, hormone balance disorders, and the functioning of internal organs.
Questions concerning unease over procedures
Are the needles used in esthetic acupuncture and moxibustion painful?
The needles HARICCHI uses are amazingly fine, with a width similar to that of a human hair, resulting in nearly no pain. The width of the needles is 0.10mm, compared to 0.08mm for the proboscis of a mosquito. In procedures, these needles are inserted about 5 mm into pressure points. There may be a pricking sensation, similar to the bite of a mosquito, but there are also locations where nothing is felt. Although the sensation differs by individual, few people feel pain.
HARICCHI adjusts procedures according to customers' physical constitution, muscle condition, and reactions to stimulation, letting customers undergo procedures with peace of mind.
In addition, we use disposable needles in all of our courses, and enforce cleanliness and safety in our esthetic acupuncture and moxibustion.
Are there side effects of acupuncture and moxibustion?
Customers may feel sluggishness or sleepiness following a procedure. Known as the cleansing reaction, this occurs when blood flow is improved by the procedure, letting accumulated waste products circulate through the body. When the wastes are expelled from the body, the body will feel more refreshed than it did before the procedure.
If you experience the cleansing reaction, we ask that you rest quietly and get sufficient hydration.
Does bleeding occur during acupuncture?
On rare occasions, bleeding can occur in areas where blood flow is sluggish. However, the bleeding is slight, and is easily stopped with the application of a bit of cotton.
Does acupuncture on the face cause internal bleeding?
When nutritional condition is poor, when circulation is extremely poor, or in other cases of weakened blood vessel walls, internal bleeding can occur after acupuncture.
HARICCHI uses extremely fine needles and performs procedures with high skill and careful attention to prevent internal bleeding to the fullest extent possible. However, countless capillaries run through the surface of the body, and, as everyone knows from experience, even a slight impact can cause bruising (i.e., internal bleeding). Accordingly, it is unfortunately difficult to perform procedures with 100% avoidance of internal bleeding. We ask customers to be aware of this in advance.
However, such occurrences do not leave marks. Please be assured that coloring will fade in several days and disappear completely in 1 to 3 weeks.
Customers who are preparing for weddings or other events, who expect to appear in photographs, or who otherwise have concerns are asked to consult with the practitioner to discuss procedures that avoid the eye area or avoid the face entirely.
Are esthetic acupuncture and moxibustion unsuited to some persons?
Esthetic acupuncture and moxibustion are treatment methods that enhance the human body's innate self-healing capabilities, energize cells and muscles, and promote metabolism to give the complexion a healthy glow and make skin smooth and moisture-rich. As it does not carry the sort of side effects associated with drugs, the procedures are recommended for persons of any physical constitution. Moreover, HARICCHI engages in counseling to address customers' condition and concerns on the first visit, and tailors the esthetic acupuncture and moxibustion procedures to customers’ physical constitution, to ensure peace of mind.
Things to confirm before procedures
Are procedures possible during menstruation?
There are no problems associated with undergoing acupuncture and moxibustion during menstruation. As acupuncture and moxibustion are able to alleviate the skin dryness and acne that can accompany menstruation, we invite concerned customers to talk with us.
Is it safe to undergo procedures while pregnant?
Persons who wish to undergo esthetic acupuncture and moxibustion during pregnancy are asked to consult with their gynecological physician after entering the second trimester, and receive approval for the procedures.

Yes, it is safe. The relationship between atopy and the autonomous nervous system is deep, and many persons experience improvement following acupuncture and moxibustion procedures.

The stainless steel needles used by HARICCHI are less likely to cause allergic reactions than other metals. However, persons with a stainless steel allergy or other metal allergies should consult with a medical specialist.
Should makeup be removed before procedures?
For courses other than the Water and Light Course, procedures do not require removing makeup.
A dresser is available for persons who want to bring their own makeup implements and redo makeup after the procedure.
Is it safe to undergo procedures with a cold?
We decline procedures for persons who have fever symptoms, as there is a possibility of the fever increasing further. Even if the customer does not have a fever, we may not be able to perform procedures if the customer's physical condition is very poor. Please call us to discuss your condition before visiting.
Can persons taking medication undergo acupuncture and moxibustion?
Yes, it is possible to undergo procedures while taking medication.
Are esthetic treatments such as Botox compatible with esthetic acupuncture?
Esthetic treatments such as Botox are compatible with esthetic acupuncture. However, we cannot perform procedures while symptoms of inflammation are apparent. We ask customers to reschedule appointments if swelling, pain, or redness are apparent.
In addition, we recommend that procedures be avoided on the same day as chiropractic therapy or massage, as blood flow may become too active and result in poor physical condition.
What cautions should be taken after procedures?
We recommended that customers avoid intense exercise, heavy intake of alcohol, and hot or long baths.
As blood flow is very active on the day of procedures, avoid intense activity and quietly get rest.
Is it all right to take meals normally after procedures?
There is no problem with eating normally after procedures. However, as an excessive amount of food causes blood to concentrate in the stomach and intestines instead of in the skin where it is desired, we recommend that customers eat in moderation to realize the effectiveness of procedures.
Is it safe to exercise after procedures?
Excessive exercise tends to make the body prone to sluggishness. We recommended that you refrain from or reduce exercise on the day of procedures.
Is it safe to drink alcohol after procedures?
As blood flow in the body overall is very active after a procedure, absorption of alcohol is also higher than usual and its effects tend to be more easily felt. As a customer’s usual amount of alcohol may have greater than usual effects, we recommend that you refrain.
Does health insurance cover procedures?
Unfortunately, health insurance does not cover procedures. All of our courses are procedures paid at the customer's expense (not covered by insurance).
Are credit cards accepted?
Credit cards are accepted. (Accepted card issuers: VISA, MASTER, AMERICAN EXPRESS)
Are there charges for cancellation?
We request that cancellations be made by 14:00 on the day before the appointment. Please note that cancellation later than that may result in the application of a cancellation charge set by the salon.
